Howard County Government offices, courts, 50+ centers, animal shelter, Alpha Ridge Landfill, Cedar Lane and Schooley Mill Activity Rooms, Gary J. Arthur, North Laurel and Roger Carter Community Centers, Meadowbrook Athletic Complex, Robinson Nature Center, Harriet Tubman Cultural Center, Kiwanis-Wallas Hall, Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Station Museum, and county historic sites will be closed on Monday, January 1st in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball today announced Howard County Government has taken bold steps to further its investment in its employees with the launch of a new paid parental leave benefit, a new option to enroll in a 529 College Savings Plan and ability for all County employees, regardless of their benefit status, to elect to contribute towards a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan.
Autumn River Water Main and Sewer Main Stabilization Project to Begin
A Howard County construction project to stabilize exposed public utilities at a stream crossing located in a wooded area off Bending Sky Way in Ellicott City, is expected to begin on or about Tuesday, January 2nd. The project will provide cover and protection for the water main and sewer main exposed in the stream. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-January.

Howard County Government offices, courts, 50+ centers and animal shelter will be closed in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday, January 15th. There will be regular Monday trash, recycling, food scrap and yard trim services on the 15th and the Alpha Ridge Landfill will be open.

Henryton Road Bridge Replacement Project Underway
A Howard County construction project to replace the Henryton Road bridge, located 500 feet south of Crows Foot Road in Marriottsville, is underway. While the work is being done, the bridge will be closed to all traffic. New temporary traffic signals will be in place to direct traffic around the work area and alternate traffic onto a temporary bypass road constructed adjacent to the old bridge. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late July 2024.

Little Patuxent River Sewer Stabilization Project Underway
A Howard County construction project to stabilize an exposed public sewer at a stream crossing located in a wooded area off Broken Land Parkway in Columbia, is underway. During construction hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., southbound Broken Land Parkway will be temporarily reduced to two lanes just south of Cradlerock Way to allow construction vehicles access to the job site. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late April.

A Howard County construction project to improve the existing storm drain adjacent to 4701 Hale Haven Drive in Ellicott City, is underway. The project is not expected to impact the flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-February.
