The Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition (LHIC) has provided $4,150 to the Community Ecology Institute to build and maintain community gardens at Bryant Woods and Talbott Springs elementary schools.

In a ceremony held Wednesday night, the County's Department of Recreation & Parks' Robinson Nature Center was by the Howard County Autism Society as a local autism-friendly organization. The Nature Center recently launched its “Sensory-Friendly Sundays” program, which provides attendees a quiet, low-stress environment the second Sunday of each month.

Howard County Executive Calvin Ball joined the County’s Department of Recreation & Parks and other elected officials on Saturday, November 2, for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of Troy Park at Elkridge’s fourth field, known as Field One.

Recreation & Parks' sharpshooting deer management program is held to help maintain a stable, balanced, white-tailed deer population on county park lands where deer browsing has been shown to reduce biodiversity.
